Veda Krishnamurthy is a cricketer part of the Indian Women’s Cricket team. She is famous for attacking batting and economic bowling. She has represented India across International ODIs and T20 matches. Apart from that, she is a leading player of Women’s Big Bash League. She is a right hand batswoman and right-arm leg break bowler. Her international debut was in 2011 where she played ODIs and T20 matches. Currently, she is a leading female cricketer and Internet celebrity.

Born in Kadur, she has trained in cricket since childhood. She studied at Cambridge School. Later, she graduated with a degree in Arts from Mount Carmel College. She started representing her school for cricket events and also was part of college events. Her official training was from Karnataka Institute of Cricket. With a lovely batting performance, she got selected into the Indian Women’s Cricket team.

In 2015, she got a B-grade contract list issued by the BCCI. Later, she was actively part of ODI and T20 matches with good scores. She also played for Hobart Hurricanes and Velocity in the Women’s Big Bash League. With high scores regularly, she is now a strong middle order batswoman

• When she was only 3 years old, she started playing street cricket in her hometown.
• She had a dream of becoming a cricketer and dream seemed a reality when she saw an advertisement in the newspaper calling out young talent for a trial camp in Bangalore.
• Acknowledging her dream, her parents did not hesitate even once and took her to the Karnataka Cricket Academy, where the camp was to be hosted.
• Irfan Sait, the coach who was supervising the camp, was left awe-struck looking at Veda’s talent. Terming the girl ‘a child prodigy’, the coach asked her parents to immediately enroll her into the academy. Her parents, however, were doubtful because enrolling into the academy meant that Veda would stay in the city all by herself, with no one to look after her.
• The coach, Irfan Sait, was in no mood of giving up; hence, the girl’s “temporary custody” was given to Spoorthi Ramesh, a former woman state player. The latter didn’t even think once and agreed to look after the future talent. Nonetheless, a month later, her eldest sister, Vatsala Shivakumar, rented a small house in the city and accompanied the teenager to each of her practice sessions.
• Not many people know that Veda is even trained in ‘Karate.’ She has also earned a black belt in Karate.
• Owing to her fielding skills, Veda broke into the senior Karnataka team at just 13 years of age. Soon, Veda established herself as a batswoman.
